Landscape & Visual

Landscape and visual effects are among the key environmental issues associated with windfarm development.

Landscape effects relate to the changes in the physical and other characteristics of the landscape and its resulting character and quality, while visual effects relate to changes in views experienced by visual receptors (e.g., residents, footpath users, tourists, etc.) and on the visual amenity experienced by those people.

A windfarm would add an additional landscape component within the general area. The significance of this will vary according to the distance from which it is observed and the character of the landscape.
Fewcott windfarm site is located in the gently undulating topography of north Oxfordshire, alongside the M40 motorway. The linear arrangement of turbines has been selected in order to follow the other linear features of the landscape.

Wireline and photomontage visualisations are being produced to give an indication of what the windfarm will look like from various viewpoint locations agreed in consultation with Cherwell District Council. These will be presented within the Environmental Statement submitted with the planning application. Visualisations from several viewpoints will be available to see on the interactive map.
